LITHIUM BATTERIES FOR CARAVANS

Lithium Batteries for Caravans

When it comes to running all the power-hungry comforts of home, lead acid battery systems just won’t cut it. From a TV to your sound system, or even just lights, microwaves and other essentials–you’re going to need a little more grunt.

Lithium Ion (LiFePO4) batteries (compared to traditional lead acid):

While the initial cost outlay is higher, lithium caravan batteries will change the way you look at off-grid power.

Get more power with Lithium-Ion Batteries

Traditional lead acid batteries are pretty inefficient, every time they’re depleted, their life span diminishes.

LiFePO4 Lithium batteries, on the other hand, are far more suited to complete* charge and depletion cycles. While you should still operate them between 20% and 80% total charge for maximum longevity, completely draining them won’t write them off.

What’s more, lithium caravan batteries will keep cranking out great voltage all the way to the end. Even on the last 10% of their charge, they’ll keep those beers icy cold and the veggies fresh.

*Lithium batteries have some pretty serious advantages over lead acid when it comes to charge levels. But they should still never be completely discharged. A correctly designed and installed power system will include safeguards to prevent this.

Lithium batteries charge faster.

Compared to traditional lead acid (AGM batteries) lithium power storage systems charge at up to triple the speed. They’re far better suited to rapid charging, and are far more efficient in terms of what current they can handle from a charging source.

For a battery system that can charge quickly and infrequently, lithium caravan batteries are the obvious choice.

Save weight with Lithium Caravan Batteries

Lead acid batteries are heavy, and the more weight budget you spend on them the less you have for everything else. With the typical payload of a family size van being somewhere around 800kg, all of a sudden 50kg’s on battery power is a huge investment. That’s nearly a full set of spare wheels and tyres, 50 litres of fuel or water, or more than a hundred cans of your favourite brew!

Lithium batteries designed for caravan power systems are significantly lighter. Compared to lead acid systems of the same equivalent power output (factoring in efficiency as well as raw amp hours) li-ion batteries are 3-4 TIMES lighter!

Done right, Lithium Caravan Batteries are safer, last longer and are better than lead acid in every way.

The downside to lithium batteries? They take a little bit more to get right than lead acid batteries. Your traditional power system is designed for lead acid, and it’s not quite as simple as plug and play.

To get the most from a lithium battery set up, save money in the long run and keep your van safe, you need to do it right.

Although it’s possible to install lithium battery controllers and safeguards yourself, it’s best done by an experienced professional with the attention to detail, level of care and experience to make sure it’s spot-on the first time.

Here at RV Solutions, that’s exactly what we do.

RV Solutions are your experts in Lithium Battery Systems for Caravans.

We’ve been in the caravan game for decades, and we’re hardcore, dead-set keen travellers just like you. We love to escape the city and get out into nature. To go radio silent on a beach up in Ningaloo for weeks at a time, or deep into the outback taking a crack at the Gibb River Road.

Many years and countless adventures have taught us a thing or two about setting up caravans, and we’d love the chance to share that knowledge with you.

We operate one of the most advanced caravan modification and repair workshops in Australia, as well as selling Australia’s top caravan brands.

If you’re looking for a lithium battery system that’s tailored to you, installed perfectly and will deliver time and time again—look no further. Give us a call, shoot through an email or drop in and say g’day. Tell us how we can help, and we’ll do the rest.
